Shafie rubbishes claim he was in touch with Najib

-

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal has rubbished any allegation of him being in touch with Datuk Seri Najib Razak amid the late announcement of official results for seats contested in Sabah.

In his statement at 11.30pm, when asked if he had been in contact with Najib, Shafie replied: “That’s a silly question.”

“Well he doesn’t know my number anyway,” he added.

At the time of his statement, Sabahans were still kept on the edge of their seats for the announcement of official results.

The GE14 is regarded as the big daddy of elections and Shafie was set to lead Warisan to victory with several parliament seats crucial to form the new government as Malaysia prepares to make political history.

Meanwhile, Shafie expressed concern over the Election Commission’s (EC) alleged delay in signing the Form 14 documents as well as in making the announcements of the GE14 winners in the state.

He echoed Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Tun Mahathir Mohamad’s concern in regard to the alleged tactic that Barisan Nasional could be using to remain in power.

Based on the counting conducted by the respective Polling District Centers (PDM), Warisan and PH had obtained enough seats to form the state government, Shafie claimed.

He said there was a delay in regard to the issuance of Form 14, something that seemed to be a trend both at the state and federal levels.

He claimed caretaker Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman had supposedly lost his Sungai Sibuga seat and that the EC had refused to make the announcement.

He advised the EC to play its part fairly by signing the Form 14 documents and to make prompt announcements.
