Anak Negeri accepts defeat

-

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri has accepted the fact all 13 Anak Negeri candidates including himself failed to win seats in the 14th general election (GE14).

“We accept and respect the verdict of the people of Sabah and thank all those who have voted and supported Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri.

“While we make no excuses for our poor performance, we attribute Anak Negeri defeat to the dominant grassroots sentiments to defeat BN at all cost,” said its president, Datuk Henrynus Amin.

He said a popular belief was that only Pakatan Harapan/ Warisan Sabah had the necessary leadership and resources to defeat Barisan Nasional in Sabah.

Therefore the dominant mindset among voters was that GE14 was solely between BN and PH/Warisan, he said.

“Anak Negeri as a small opposition political party was obviously not on the people’s radar screen in GE14 and therefore its campaign messages largely ignored.

“But Anak Negeri will continue to consolidate its position perhaps as a political pressure group to be helmed by younger leaders in preparation for GE15,” Henrynus added.

He also said the party’s fivepoint agenda is still relevant and the vision of unity dignity and rights of the Anak Negeri would be relentlessly pursued.

Meanwhile Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri fully subscribes to the PH political struggle, especially for regime change and fully supports PH victory at the federal level.

“We believe PH victory reflects the popular wishes of the Malaysian people for regime change and we congratulate all opposition candidates who won their seats.

“We will carry out a thorough post mortem of the party’s poor performance in GE14 and then decide the next course of actions in the light of the latest development.”
