Minister to meet IGP to expedite process of finding Indira Gandhi's daughter

IPOH: Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran, who is also counsel to M. Indira Gandhi, will meet Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun to expedite the process of finding the woman’s youngest daughter.

Kulasegaran said the court had ordered Muhammad Riduan Abdullah to hand over Prasana Diksa to his former wife apart from ordering the man to be arrested for contempt of court.

“I will meet Mohamad Fuzi soon to see how I can expedite the process of finding Indira’s daughter.

“There are some difficulties (in looking for Muhammad Riduan) but we will try to do our best to achieve it,” he told reporters after attending the 99th anniversary celebrations of Independence prominent figure Tun V. T. Sambanthan yesterday.

Mohamad Fuzi, in his statement on Jan 29, said efforts to trace and arrest Muhammad Riduan was still ongoing since 2014 based on a warrant of committal issued by the Ipoh High Court on May 30, 2014.

On Jan 29, the Federal Court ruled that a person who converted to Islam must have the consent of the non Muslim spouse to the unilateral conversion of their underage children to Islam.

The couple’s three children, two daughters and one son are aged 20,19 and nine. Muhammad Riduan, 47, changed their children’s religion to Islam on April 2009 without the consent of Indira Gandhi, after he converted to Islam.

In 2016, the Federal Court ordered the Inspector-General of Police to arrest Muhammad Riduan for contempt of court after he failed to hand over his youngest daughter to his former wife.

In 2010, the Ipoh High Court granted Indira Gandhi full custody of his three children and ordered Muhammad Riduan to hand over Prasana Diksa to her mother.
