-

TENGHILAN: Kaamatan is the appropriate platform where our culture and traditional practices such as our traditional food can be preserved and promoted, said Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Wilfred Tangau, when delivering his speech at the launch of ‘Majlis kesyukuran gabungan kawasan mukim Sokid, Tamparuli’.

Among others, Tangau said: “Our Kadazandusun society has inherited a way of preparing and preserving traditional food which is rich in dietary contents and which is uniquely ours.

“One of the many ways in which we can preserve our traditional dishes and the way they are prepared is by holding competitions, not just merely looking for the best dish or the most talented traditional chef but most importantly for our younger generation who must inherit the technique of preparing our traditional dishes.”

At the same function, Tangau also took the opportunity to thank the people of Tenghilan who had voted for him as Tuaran MP in the recent election and for their endorsement on the decision taken by Upko that enabled the Warisan-led government to take over the administration of the state government.

The function was held at Balai Muhibbah Kg. Tomboilik in Tenghilan.

Accompanying Tangau at the function was his political secretary Joisin Romut, Tamparuli PKR candidate in GE 14 Dausil Kundayong and OKK Johnny Tanggar.
