Continue to strive for better Sarawak — Abg Johari
KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg urges all Sarawakians to continue to strive for a better Sarawak in the spirit of integrity and unity.
He said it was only appropriate that Sarawakians continue to focus their attention on strengthening and preserving unity among the multiracial population.
“Sarawak is known for its strong unity amidst the diverse culture and tradition. We are rich in culture, and I believe we have a bright future if we can uphold them,” he said on his second day Hari Raya open house at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here yesterday.
Abang Johari said the Dayaks had just recently celebrated the Gawai and now the Muslim community is celebrating Hari Raya.
“With this Hari Raya we will continue to foster closer relationship among us based on our strong and unique platform. We will continue to work together in developing Sarawak.
“I would like to take this opportunity to urge Sarawakians of different background to uphold the strong cooperation among ourselves in order to preserve unity in Sarawak,” he added.
Abang Johari said from his personal observation during his open house, this year’s Hari Raya celebration was not only very joyful but one which was celebrated by all Sarawakians of diverse background.
He said the Hari Raya open house was a very good concept as it created opportunity for the people of different background, culture, and religion to visit each other and celebrate festivals together.
Meanwhile, about 30,000 people have visited the chief minister’s open house since Friday.
