Good response to GPS logo design contest

-

KUCHING: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) logo design contest is receiving good response from Sarawakians, with at least 100 entries received thus far.

This contest, which is open only to Sarawakians, is organised in conjunction with the official launch of GPS that is expected to be on July 22.

Sarawakians who love their state, the biggest among all states in Malaysia, are called to contribute their ideas of peace and solidarity through the GPS logo, which should represent the state of Sarawak.

Organised by the GPS taskforce, the contest aims at engaging Sarawakians to come up with a logo that could best represent the colours and uniqueness of Sarawak.

All Sarawakians have up to July 10 to submit their entries to the organiser.

The GPS taskforce has earlier stated its expectation that the logo should contain the colours of Sarawak flag to reflect the identity of Sarawak.

The contest is an opportunity for Sarawakians to bring out the best of their imaginative skills to produce a logo that can impress the panel of judges and be rewarded with attractive cash prizes.

Considering that GPS marks a new beginning for the four component parties of former Barisan Nasional Sarawak, entries are also expected to depict a fresh start.

Champion of the GPS logo design contest will walk away with cash prize of RM10,000 while second place and third place winners will get a cash prize of RM5,000 and RM3,000 respectively.

Five consolation cash prizes of RM1,000 are also up for grabs.

This contest is the second of its kind by the state government of Sarawak after it organised one for the launch of Development Bank of Sarawak (DBoS).

GPS is set to comprise Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).

Its formation was announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg after chairing a meeting with leaders of the four political parties on June 12.

The organiser is expected to unveil the new logo on July 12.

Softcopy of the entries can be delivered to logogps2018@gmail.com while the hard copy can be handdelivered to GPS Taskforce at Lot 401, Jalan Bako Petra Jaya, Peti Surat 1053, 93050 Kuching, Sarawak.

All softcopies must be in JPEG format and attached to RAW or Working file. For details or terms and conditions, visit Facebook page gabungan parti sarawak - GPS.
