36 Sabah players to compete in MSSM hockey tourney

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah School Sports Council (MSSS) have named a strong 36-member squad for the Malaysia School Sports Council (MSSM) Under-12 Hockey Championship in Perak from August 4-9.

The state will take part in both the Boy's and Girl's competition where 18 players were selected from the recent MSSS tournament here.

The boys team comprise Airul Izani Rafizan, Muhammad Izhan Afzaan Junaidi, Muhammad Rafiq Muhamad Raze and Muhammad Daniel Asri from North Division; Mohd Danieal Syazrin, Mohamad Azuan Zefanya, Mohammad Shah Yuzairief (South Division); Mohd Hafiz Rudy Iskandar, Mohd Fadli Anchu, Mohd Haikal Misbah, Mohd Shareyzal Abdul Malik (Southeast Division); Muhammad Harry Wilta, Stan Ivan Silverinus, Mohammad Salahuddin Abdullah, Mohd Nur Syafiq Abdullah (Interior Division); Noor Rahmat Saliwangi, Eddy Mazlan Yusuf (Sandakan Division); and Muhmmad Iskandar Hamsa (West Division).

The girs team players are Tecla Gee Majuwil, Elvie Lookin, Sholictika Wanna Suli (West Division); Zefanya Tinus, Elyna Joanes, Ajurah Kauran, Preatty Aqueen Patrick, Helerency Nelvy Peter, Ellyfivia Arizan (Interior Division); Nur Syazlina Usman (South Division); Nelly Ann Rayner, Myxandra D Angel Mashrinu, Chrisne Jairin, Anna Eliana Malois, Qamarun Nafisah Md Taip, Azmawati Aziah Ahmad (North Division); and Nurshahirah Abdurus, Nur Rabiatul Adawiyyah Abdullah (Southeast Division).

MSSS hockey technical chairman Jamat Jaafar said four players too were included in the standby list for the girls team namely Ellycia Vaelrina Antonis, Diana Syafika Lorin (North Division), Hairunnisa Izani Amin (South Division) and Nur Alya Maisarah Daus (Sandakan).

"The coach for the boys' team is Tonny Kansalan of MSSS North Division and Mohd Ridzuan Rodzi of MSSS Interior Division for the girls' team.

"The teams will undergo centralised training at the Malaysia Sports School Sabah starting July 27 before leaving for Perak," he said here yesterday.

For the record, North Division emerged champions in the boys' category of the MSSS under-12 hockey championship in Likas near here with a 1-0 win over Southeast Division while Interior Division clinched the girls' title after a 2-0 victory over North Division last Saturday.
