All-new Peugeot model 5008 SUV launched
KOTA KINABALU: Boston Auto Sdn Bhd yesterday launched its all-new Peugeot model 5008 SUV.
The Peugeot 5008 breaks new ground as a large seven-seater SUV in the C segment. The allnew model includes the latest version of the Peugeot i-Cockpit, Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2) and a plethora of hightech features that enhance comfort and safety.
With seven seats, the Peugeot 5008 is the first SUV to offer modularity on par with that of the best people-carriers.
The 5008 is also significantly bigger than the 3008.
Under the hood, the new Peugeot is powered by a 1.6 litre THP 165 S&S petrol engine, which serves up to 165 hp (167 PS) and 240 Nm torque at 1,400 rpm.
The turbocharged power plant is paired with an Aisinsourced six-speed automatic transmission and drive goes to the front wheels.
The SUV takes 9.2 seconds to soar from zero to 100 km/h and hits 206 km/h at top speed.
Drivers will also have access to Peugeot’s advanced grip control, which uses the chassis electronics to manage the available grip according to road surface, enabling a greater degree of off-road ability despite the front-wheel drive layout.
There are five driving modes on offer, namely mud, snow, sand, ESP off and standard, accessible via a rotary dial located next to the hill descent control button.
The model features the brand’s trademark i-Cockpit interior, with the highlight being the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The screen is capable of displaying the usual driving information as well as additional information depending on the selected mode.
The other display in the SUV is an eight-inch touchscreen on the dashboard, which is linked to the infotainment and climate control systems. The former comes with an wide array of inputs, including MirrorLink, USB, plus Andriod Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Other points of interest include the piano-key toggle switches, rectangular-shaped steering wheel, gear lever, electronic parking brake, sixspeaker 3D Arkamys sound system and ambient lighting.
By launching the new Peugeot mode, Boston Auto believes that it could achieve its sales target of 80 units for the new Peugeot 5008 SUV per year due to the high demand of SUV vehicles in the region.
The fully-imported 5008 is open for booking and is priced at RM166,711.89 on-the-road without insurance, inclusive of a five-year or 120,000 km warranty.
