Amanah Labuan urged to foster good rapport with people

LABUAN: The newly-establishe­d Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Labuan pro-tem committee and members have been reminded to stay humble and continue to champion issues affecting the people’s wellbeing.

Amanah communicat­ion director Khalid Abdul Samad said it was important for the party leadership­s and all its members to foster good rapport with the people at all level regardless of their political ideology in line with the Malaysia Baharu slogan of being fair to all Malaysian.

As the newly-formed Pakatan Harapan government was elected by the people, he urged the party leadership to strengthen relationsh­ip with the component parties of Pakatan Harapan coalition in fulfilling the people’s aspiration.

Khalid, who is the Federal Territorie­s Minister, was on a two-day working visit to Labuan since Friday, meeting all the more than 80 government heads at Wisma Labuan Corporatio­n and pro-tem committee of Amanah Labuan at an undisclose­d location yesterday morning.

Leading the meeting with Khalid was Amanah Labuan protem chairman Dr Ramli Tahir who described the meeting as the starting point for the party to strengthen its base in the dutyfree island here.

“We have also been reminded to strengthen the party here for the people and for the party’s image, and we are optimistic with two branches of Victoria Utara and Vitoria Selatan supported by almost 300 members, we should be able to show our presence here,” he said.
