XMUM: China’s first overseas campus
XIAMEN University Malaysia (XMUM) is the first overseas campus from China.
XMUM welcomed its first batch of students on 22 February 2016. All the programmes offered at XMUM are recognized internationally, with dual accreditation by both the Malaysian and Chinese governments.
The campus is located in Sepang, Selangor, constructed on a 150 acre land fully equipped with world class facilities and on-site dormitories with excellent security features. The university currently has an enrolment of a total of 2400 local and 1000 international students.
The September 2018 intake for degree programmes and the August 2018 intake for foundation programmes are now open for application. Currently, Xiamen University Malaysia offers 2 foundation programmes and 15 undergraduate programmes.
All the courses are taught in English, except courses in Chinese Medicine and Chinese Studies which are taught in both English and Chinese.
The latest undergraduate courses to be introduced are the Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.
The Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics for September 2018 intake is now open for registration.
With the increased popularity of digital marketing and big data, advertising plays an important role in combining analysis and strategic advertising to build brands or promote products and services.
Xiamen University is the first university in China to have an advertising major approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education, and has made outstanding contributions to the development of advertising talents in China.
At present, the advertising department of Xiamen University Malaysia Campus is collaborating with worldclass advertising companies, paving the way for students to participate in industry university projects.
Through these projects, XMUM students will not only be trained to excel in their area of expertise but also learn how to deal with their future employers and clients.
Advertising graduates have a wide range of employment opportunities in advertising companies, public relations companies, digital marketing related industries, cultural and creative industries, film shooting and editing, media, corporate public relations, and marketing departments. The Mathematics and Applied Mathematics programme at Xiamen University (XMU), offered by the School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS), was introduced in 1922, among the first batch of programmes at XMU.
The world-famous mathematician, Chen Jingrun, once studied in this programme from 1949 until 1953. The Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics of Xiamen University employs many outstanding lecturers , most of whom graduated from wellknown foreign universities.
