KOTA KINABALU: Celebrity and TV host, Datuk Mahadzir Lokman passed away while on holiday here in the state capital.

The 61-year-old television icon was found inside his hotel room this morning around 9.30am.

According to police investigation, Mahadzir was in the state capital and checked into a five star hotel with a family friend on July 31.

According to the friend’s report, the last time they spoke was after dinner around 10.40pm on Aug 2.

The friend also claimed to have received a “morning greeting” through a Whatsapp group from the victim at around 5am.

Around 9.30am, the friend knocked the victim’s hotel room but there was no answer.

The friend then informed the hotel management to help open the victim’s room and Mahadzir was found unconscious inside his hotel room.

A doctor from Queen Elizabeth Hospital, who arrived at the scene shortly, confirmed the victim’s death.

Meanwhile, city police chief ACP Habibi Majinji said police had rule out any foul play involved as there was no criminal element found at the scene.

The case, he said, had been classified as sudden dead but a thorough investigation would be carried out.

“An autopsy will be carried out today to determine the actual cause of death,” said Habibi, adding that family members had been notified of the incident.
