Tunku Az­izah re­leases two new cook­books

KUALA LUMPUR: Tengku Puan of Pa­hang Tunku Az­izah Ami­nah Maimu­nah Iskan­dariah yes­ter­day launched two cook­books on Pa­hang tra­di­tional dishes and desserts, as part of ef­forts to raise funds for the Tunku Az­izah Fer­til­ity Foun­da­tion (TAFF).

The books ti­tled ‘Air Tan­gan Tengku Puan Pa­hang - Masakan Tra­di­sional Pa­hang' and ‘Air Tan­gan Tengku Puan Pa­hangManisa­n Tra­di­sional Pa­hang were launched by the Re­gent of Pa­hang Tengku Ab­dul­lah Sul­tan Ah­mad Shah.

Pub­lished by TAFF and sold at RM380 each, the books con­tain a com­pi­la­tion of recipes spe­cially doc­u­mented by Tunku Az­izah dur­ing her trav­els around the var­i­ous dis­tricts in Pa­hang.

Ac­cord­ing to Tunku Az­izah the books were pro­duced within a year af­ter learn­ing and try­ing out the tra­di­tional cui­sine and dessert recipes from the vil­lagers.

She said this to re­porters af­ter the book launch held in a ho­tel here. Also present were the Sul­tanah of Pa­hang Sul­tanah Ha­jah Kal­som, Sul­tanah of Tereng­ganu Sul­tanah Nur Zahi­rah and Tunku Az­izah's chil­dren.

"Cook­ing is some­thing which I in­her­ited from my late mother (Al­marhum Enche' Be­sar Ha­jah Khal­som Ab­dul­lah) and my late fa­ther (Al­marhum Sul­tan Iskan­dar Sul­tan Is­mail) had al­ways en­cour­aged me to take up cook­ery cour­ses since I was a child,” she said.

Mean­while, Tengku Ab­dul­lah ex­pressed pride in the pub­li­ca­tion of the books which he said could pro­mote Pa­hang her­itage dishes and cuisines.
