Nine 'Mat Rempit' arrested while racing

BUTTERWORTH: The police arrested nine suspected ‘Mat Rempit' or illegal motorcycle racers, including a 15-year-old school dropout, who were racing along the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR) early yesterday morning.

Seberang Perai Utara (SPU) district police chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said during the operations that were carried out from 11pm to 5am this morning, nine youths, aged 15 to 22, were arrested for illegal racing as well as riding in reckless and dangerous manner.

He also said that on Friday, two youth, both aged 21, were also detained for illegal racing and the 11 suspects were remanded for further investigation.
