Cabinet approves minimum wage rate for private sector

SEPANG: The Cabinet has approved and set a new minimum wage rate for the private sector, Minister of Human Resources M. Kulasegara­n said yesterday.

He said it was “good news” that there was a standard minimum wage in the country which was what Malaysians were waiting for, adding that the details would be announced by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“I presented (the proposal on the uniform starting salary for the private sector in the peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak) and it was a joint decision from the Cabinet today. This is positive news for all employees who receive a minimum wage”.

“Now, we will wait for PM to announce (the decision made at the cabinet meeting),” he said at a press conference held after attending the welcoming ceremony for the national contingent of the Asian Skills Competitio­n at the KL Internatio­nal Airport (KLIA), here yesterday.

SC orders immediate stop to all Lavidacoin promotions

PETALING JAYA: The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has ordered an immediate stop to all promotiona­l activities on the newly-launched Lavidacoin cryptocurr­ency, pending further review.

In a statement yesterday, the SC identified DSV Crypto Club, LUX Galaxies and VI Profit Galaxy, as among the business entities promoting Lavidacoin.

According to the SC, the three companies had been added to its Investor Alert List at www. sc.com.my.
