Six security guards arrested for beating theft suspect to death

KLANG: Police have arrested six security guards for beating a suspected thief to death.

The alleged thief, a 42-year-old man, was believed to have gone to the IJM Jalan Sungai Puloh-Aman Perdana highway constructi­on site to steal metal there on Tuesday morning (Sept 25).

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said North Klang police were alerted about the theft and citizens arrest at around 9am on Sept 25.

“We arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect and seized his vehicle which had pieces of metal in it, believed to be stolen.

“The suspect was taken to the Bukit Raja police station for further action,” he said when contacted yesterday.

He said the suspect looked weak and had injuries to his arms and legs and bruises all over his body.

“The suspect lost consciousn­ess at the police station and we rushed him to the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah for medical treatment.

“He was pronounced dead at around 12pm. The man was identified as S. Asogan Naidu,” he said adding that a post mortem would be conducted to identify the cause of death.

He said police in a follow-up operation nabbed six suspects who worked at the constructi­on site as security guards.

“These suspects are believed to have beaten the man before handing him over to police,” he said adding that the suspects aged in the 20s and 30s have been remanded for a week.

SAC Fadzil added that the case was classified as murder.
