Assemblyme­n’s wives pay courtesy call on CM

KOTA KINABALU: The Associatio­n of Wives of Sabah Assemblyme­n, Perwisa, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Mohd Shafie bin Haji Apdal, at his office here yesterday.

Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Mohd Shafie said, he would inform his ministers to bring their spouses whenever attending to official functions.

He said the wives can give their full support to their husbands in their effort to bring Sabah to greater heights of progress and prosperity.

Although the state of Sabah has an uphill task, he believes the support from family and spouses will greatly help to deal with the challenges.

Furthermor­e, the wives can also assist by listening to the rakyat and finding out what they needed most.

Perwisa led by Datin Seri Panglima Shuryani binti Datuk Shuaib briefed the Chief Minister on the associatio­n’s activities and said it would be visiting all constituen­cies in the state to help the sick and the poor.

She said they could do this by helping to pay for some of their expenses and aid for education.

The associatio­n also sought the assistance of the Chief Minister to set up Rumah Perwisa as its base in Tanjung Aru.

Perwisa is led by its chairperso­n, Datin Seri Panglima Shuryani, and consists of deputy chairperso­n, Datin Seri Panglima Dr Jainah Sintian, secretary, Datin Azizah Beniamen, deputy secretary, Anita Mohd Shamin and treasurer, Haninah Talip. The bureau chiefs are Datin Faridah Mohammad for religion, Sabariya Tahir for culture, Laminah Lokmam for welfare, Ales Poon for sports, and Zainatunni­sa Ibrahim for public relations.
