Movies galore at 2018 China Film Festival from Sept 28-30
KOTA KINABALU: After the success of the China Film Festival last year, Mazhong Friendship Association Sabah and the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China will bring the 2018 China Film Festival to Kota Kinabalu from September 28 to 30.
The 2018 China Film Festival curtain raiser will be on this Friday (September 28) featuring a documentary movie “Himalaya: Ladder to Paradise”, which is a 2015 Chinese film directed by Han Xiao and Junjian Liang.
The documentary show features Hong Kong action pioneer Dante Lam, drawing our attention to a growing part of Tibetan society where a new generation of young people are carving out their careers as guides up Mt. Everest.
Five movies are specially selected for this year’s festival which will start at 7pm at Hall 1, MBO Cinema Level 2, Imago Shopping Mall, said MaZhong Friendship Association Sabah president Dr Oh Ei Sun, yesterday.
The other shows on Saturday (Sept 29) are Brotherhood of Blades, Goodbye Mr Loser and Legend of Sealed Book, respectively, starting at 1pm and 4pm.
On the final day Sunday (Sept 30) there will be three shows, namely Goodbye Mr Loser, Brotherhood of Blades and Havoc in Heaven, at 1pm and 4pm.
Oh said the five wonderful Chinese films to be presented to the Sabah audience this weekend were part of the cultural exchange between Sabah and China through visual arts.
“We will continue to strengthen our friendship and build the cultural bridge through this festival,” he said.
