The program, held at Semporna Community Hall, was attended by more than 1,000 visitors.
The ‘Blood Campaign for Cancer’ program is a charity campaign initiated by Tengku Sofiyya Ahmad, daughter of YAM Paduka Puteri Tunku Mariamz binti Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, nicknamed Aria’s Initiative, under the Malaysian CSR.
The ‘Blood Campaign for Cancer’ program is aimed at collecting at least 300 packets of blood for the use of critically-ill patients in Tawau and Semporna.
The launch of the program was held at the General Post Office at Dayabumi Complex, Kuala Lumpur recently, and is now expanded to the east coast of Sabah.
ATB2 commander, Brig Gen Datuk Zarondin Mohd Amin, said the main purpose of ATM in organizing the program was to establish full cooperation with local government agencies and to provide the latest information to the Semporna community through exhibitions and demonstrations from their respective agencies .
According to him, the program would indirectly strengthen the relationship between ATM and local residents. The program, among others, aims to inculcate the interest of young people to make the military a preferred career after they finish schooling, including after graduation.
Various exhibitions and activities were carried out throughout the program which included arms exhibition and ATM vehicles, exhibitions from other agencies including the Royal Malaysian Police, Semporna District Health Office, Fire and Rescue Team, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Civil Defence Force, Veteran Commando Association, an auto show and exhibits from Raspand Proton’s Friends Association Sdn Bhd.
On the latest status of Sabah’s east coast waters, he said some of the incidents that happened at ESSZone recently had increased the security of the security forces, especially ATB 2 by tightening control over the waters of the east coast of Sabah.
He added that ATB 2 would not compromise on security issues and continue to monitor as well as tightened security controls in eastern Sabah waters, especially in hotspot areas that are believed to be used by cross-border criminals.
This also includes collaboration with other enforcement agencies, especially ESSCom, police and local residents in maintaining national security, especially in eastern Sabah waters.
He said it was the responsibility of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) to always cooperate with involved agencies as well as local residents to ensure that the security of the country’s maritime border was always at a safe level, especially in addressing crossborder crimes.
