-

LAHAD DATU: The use of hire purchase method for marine assets is seen as a good approach to increase the capabilities of team during the operations, particularly in the East Coast of Sabah.

Marine Police Force Commander SAC Mohd Yusoff Mamat said this method was also seen to be more practical as it could also enhance team preparedness to face any probability.

Yusoff said through this method, the team would only focus on the operations and they need not pay attention to the maintenance and others.

“In my view, through this method, the assets including the operation boats will always be ready to be used at any time.

“We will take this proposal to the government,” he said when met after witnessing the handover of duties of Sabah Region 4 Marine Commander, yesterday.

During the ceremony, Yusoff witnessed the handover of duties between ACP Mohd Yazid Abdul Aziz to Supt Abdul Nasir Othman as acting commander. Mohd Yazid has served the country for 33 years.

Yusoff, however, told reporters that the implementation of this method need detail review, especially on the payment system that needs to meet government savings policies.

He added that the implementation of this method would be able to provide at least 60 per cent of asset preparation for operational use.

In the meantime, Yusoff was also committed in implementing transformation for the force as well as the community by stressing on morale value.

He added that by increasing the morale value could contribute to the development of the country as well as safeguarding the security of the country.
