KOTA KINABALU: Forty elderly folk and children were treated to a special Mooncake Festival luncheon on September 23 at Qian Tang Fu Restaurant, Likas, under Junior Chamber International (JCI) Tanjung Aru’s Charity Food Programme project.
The charity event invited 12 elderly folks from Grace Old Folks’ Home and 28 children and orphans from Bukit Harapan Charity Home and Carehaven. They were treated to a 7-course meal sponsored by Qian Tang Fu Restaurant; brought home mooncake boxes sponsored by Crystal Yu Cake House; and goodie bags from various sponsors, including a sponsored T-shirt each from Tip Top Bandit. The luncheon launches the new official collaboration between JCI Tanjung Aru’s Smile for Peace, Together We Care, and Qian Tang Fu Restaurant. Qian Tang Fu restaurant pledged to sponsor monthly meals for the elderly, children, and needy in the Kota Kinabalu community under this Charity Food Programme.
Qian Tang Fu Restaurant owner Donny Fu said, “We have only officially opened our restaurant in August 2018. Yet, we feel that we must be socially responsible to give back to the community. We thank Smile for Peace for giving us this opportunity to help the underprivileged. This is our long-term commitment towards Sabah.”
