Police deny Raja Petra’s claim Umno’s money stolen
KUALA LUMPUR: Federal Police ( Bukit Aman) Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Amar Singh Ishar Singh yesterday denied a claim by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin that police had stolen Umno’s money amounting to RM43.3 million.
Amar Singh considered the accusation baseless and said that if Raja Petra had a credible information on the allegations he must lodge a police report.
“Do not just hide behind the cyber screen by making various assumptions regarding this case, I challenge him (Raja Petra) to lodge a police report.
“Be a man and do not publish false information on this case,” he told reporters yesterday in commenting on Raja Petra’s claim on his blog that Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel had stolen RM43.3 million which belonged to Umno.
Amar Singh said during raids on a residence of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at Pavilion Residences last May, there were 50 police personnel and Bank Negara Malaysia’s staff involved and every movement in the residence was monitored.
He said police only found RM114 million in 35 out of 72 bags in one of the premises at the Pavilion Residences and the finding was announced during the first JSJK press conference on May 25.
“A follow-up raid was made and police seized another RM2.7 million at the former prime minister’s residence at Taman Duta, Jalan Langgak Duta. Bernama
