Anak Negeri chief lodges police report over malicious allegation

-

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri (Anak Negeri) President Datuk Henrynus Amin has lodged a police report over an unfounded, slanderous and malicious allegation by former party treasurer Thomas Tsen and three others.

He was referring to a statement published in the Borneo Post dated 1st October 2018 that claimed that a high profile party leader of Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri had received millions of ringgit from Umno or agencies related to Umno during the last 14th general election (GE14).

Henrynus accompanied by Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri party leaders Lawrence Yong, Terrence Tsen and Len Lip Fong, lodged the police report at the Inanam police station at 4pm on Tuesday.

He was subsequently referred to the police investigating unit at Karamunsing police station to provide details of the allegations and those involved for immediate police investigation.

Henrynus said Anak Negeri viewed the allegations by the four renegade pro-Warisan former Anak Negeri party leaders very seriously and urged the police to investigate the origins and truth of their allegations.

“We want the police to find out the source of these rumours and the motives of those actively circulating rumours.

“We place high hope on the police to investigate Thomas Tsen who claimed to have information about the rumours in order to compel him to identify or to name the so-called high profile individuals from Anak Negeri whom he alleged to have received fund or being funded by Umno or any other Umno-related induviduals in the recent 14th general election,” he said.

Henrynus said it is scandalousfor for Thomas to make all these unfounded allegations to justify his open support for his close friends in Warisan when in fact he was the Anak Negeri treasurer who was privy to the various discussions on the difficulty of raising political funds, and who knew the difficult financial position of the party, who knew there was no fund from Umno or from any private sources and who was equally frustrated when everyone they approached closed their wallet to force all party candidates to either sell assets or borrow money from close friends and family members to fund their campaign.

“In fact Thomas was privy to most party discussions before GE14 to fight the viscious rumours against Anak Negeri or the party President. So I can only surmise as to his real motive in fabricating and circulating unfounded stories to smear, descredit, cripple, weaken and destroy Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri.”

For the record, during the party’s GE14 post-mortem meeting, he said Thomas was unhappy and threatened to resign from Anak Negeri after the vast majority of grassroot party leaders in the meeting wanted the party to remain as an opposition political party or to join the bigger group such as Gabungan Sabah to pursue its political vision and struggle.

“I can fully appreciate the worry among these renegade party leaders who are worried about their family livelihood or ‘susah cari makan’, businesses and jobs if Anak Negeri were to remain in the opposition.

“Also for the record, Thomas called for an impromptu coffee shop meeting with his group immediately after the GE14 Anak Negeri post-mortem meeting attended by six of his supporters and a reporter who was asked to report their open support for the Warisan-led state govenment.”

“Since Parti Kerjassma Anak Negeri or the party President did not receive a single cent of political fund from Umno or Umno individuals before, during and after the GE14, and the fact the party has made a police report to deny the allegations, Thomas and his group now must show proof of the basis of their allegations,” said Henrynus.

He reiterated Anak Negeri will remain an opposition political party to reflect the majority wishes and will be publicly neutral on the court case or tussle for the post of Chief Minister between Tan Sri Musa Aman and Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.

For the record, Thomas and Porodong went against party advice to ditch the Anak Negeri symbol in the GE14 and opted to contest in their respective constituencies under Parti Cinta Sabah.

“I make this police report personally and as the president of Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri to deny all the allegations and allow myself to be investigated to clear my good name as well as the good name of Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri from all allegations intended to undermine the confidence of the people of Sabah or turn the party members to go against the party leadership,” said Henrynus.
