PUNB to focus on developing youth, women entrepreneurs

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB) plans to focus more on developing and nurturing Bumiputera entrepreneurs at different level, especially for the youth and women.

Chairman Datuk Hazimah Zainuddin said this would help new entrepreneurs sustain, grow and expand their businesses, locally and internationally.

“We cannot simply handover money and grants, and then let them handle it by themselves.

“We will help them using the hand-holding concept and monitor their performance to ensure business reliability.

“As an entrepreneur, I have experienced the journey of developing a business.

“I can see the women entrepreneurs here (at the event) have the ideas and desire to grow their businesses, but they may not have the correct guidance and PUNB can assist them,” she told reporters after officiating the KAMI#Let’sThrowbackToTheP ast entrepreneurial event here, recently.

Sponsored by PUNB and Persatuan Remisier Bumiputera Malaysia, and organised by local online fashion company, Geruaa Elegance, the KAMI event is a platform for young entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and creations.

Hazimah said PUNB would continue to work towards enhancing engagement with young entrepreneurs, in line with the government’s aspiration on youth development.

She believed that entrepreneurship among youths has been gaining traction and popularity, and would play an integral role to ensure sustainable economic growth with its potential to create jobs, increase productivity and competitiveness, as well as achieve societal goals.
