Domestic violence cases on the rise – TMJ

-

JOHOR BAHRU: Tunku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim yesterday expressed hope that the Johor and federal governments would take serious steps in addressing domestic violence.

According to a post on HRH Crown Prince of Johor Facebook page last night, Tunku Ismail said the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry should focus more on the issue as the number of domestic violence cases was increasing every year.

“I was surprised to read a news report which said that Johor recorded the second highest number of domestic violence cases after Selangor.

“It is sad to note that the abuse and violence are committed by the victims’ spouses,” he added.

Tunku Ismail advised victims of domestic violence to immediately lodge a police report as the problem could escalate resulting in injuries or even death. - Bernama
