Fisherman wins RM50,000 Petronas Mesra Bonanza prize

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Fisherman, Rimee Abu, 44, said he never expected that a routine visit to the Petronas station to fuel-up would result in a RM50,000 cash windfall.

“When I received the call from the organiser, I initially thought it was a scam. Then I called the Mesra card number and discovered it was true,” he said.

Rimee told reporters at the prize-giving ceremony yesterday that he plans to buy a new boat with the money.

Petronas Dagangan Bhd managing director and chief executive officer, Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin, said: “The campaign has proven to be a hit with customers as we've seen an increase in participation since its launch in April. We will continue to have similar campaigns in the future to ensure our customers are rewarded.”

Two additional people won the cash prize of RM50,000 each, three people won a trip to Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, to watch F1 live with a visit to Dubai thrown in, 10 people won holiday packages worth RM20,000, 14 people won Yamaha scooters and another 14 won Samsung smart tvs.

The final round of grand prizes will be in January 2019. To qualify for the grand prize, customers need to accumulate RM500 worth of fuel or items from Kedai Mesra within two months, on their Mesra card.

The Mesra Bonanza campaign, supported by partners like Lazada and Watsons, also offers 165 monthly prizes. For more information, visit www. mymesra.com.my. - Bernama
