Tawau Golf Club to hold AGM tomorrow
TAWAU: All members of Tawau Golf Club (TGC) are urged to attend the TGC Annual General Meeting (AGM) tomorrow at Datuk James Pang hall, Jalan Kukusan Club House here.
TGC President Chin Nyuk Keong said the AGM will start at 9am while the election of office-bearers for 2018-2020 will be carried out from 8am until 10am.
As part of the duties of being a TGC member, Chin encouraged all members to attend and get an update on the club’s affairs and development, stressing that collaboration and support from all TGC members were crucial to ensure a pleasant meeting.
In particular, he also hoped that members could express their opinions and suggestions in the meeting for discussion, and through the concerted efforts and assistance from all members, he believed the TGC will move ahead in the coming future and provide greater benefits to all members.
According to Chin, every position among the TGC officebearers will be challenged in the election, which he said was a good sign of the members’ concern and enthusiasm towards the club in their willingness to serve.
Chin, who will also compete for the presidency, expressed his gratitude to the committee members of the 2016-2018 term, for steering the club in the right direction.
The club is now well managed with efficient and productive staff while its facilities are also well maintained and the financial position of the club is sufficiently strong, he added.
“There are lots of golf competitions for golfers to enjoy throughout the years apart from regular social programs such as family day, Christmas parties and Chinese New Year open house for non-golfers and their families,” he added.
He also announced his five manifestos should he be reelected, which are: to keep the club’s golf calendar busy with more sponsored competitions other than the usual club competitions; to start the junior golf programme so that the club has young golfers to succeed and to boost the sport of golf; to renovate and extend the cafeteria area at the Hotspring clubhouse to make it spacious and more comfortable for members; to redesign and renovate the former karaoke lounge at the Kukusan clubhouse for the members’ comfort and enjoyment; and to ensure the club stays on course with a proper management system and strong financial position.
In connection with his fifth manifesto, RM1.5 million would be targeted for the club over the two-year term to fund the junior golfers programme and its enhancement thereof, as well as the development of a jungle trail in the forest along the fairway of hole 7, 8 and 9 at the Hotspring Course.
