BORNEO COAST TO COAST TRIP:

Thirty-six Australians were flagged off yesterday for their Borneo Coast to Coast journey which started in Sandakan and will end on November 3 at Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort. Sabah Tourism Board officers were there to witness the flag-off.

This is the first of its kind where part of the journey includes cycling from Sandakan to Telupid (160km), five days of Sandakan Death March Trekking, climbing Mount Kinabalu, rafting in Kiulu and cycling to their ending point at Rasa Ria.

This trip is also in conjunction with the fund-raising for Mark Hughes Foundation, a charity formed in Newcastle by Mark and Kirralee Hughes following Mark’s diagnosis with brain cancer in 2014.The foundation’s mission is to raise the much-needed funds for research, to create awareness and support brain cancer patients and their families. Mark is also part of the group.
