Schools in Johor to pioneer in waste management campaign

KLUANG: Schools in Simpang Renggam will be pioneering the waste management campaign among schools in Johor aims at educating the public on proper waste management at the earliest stage possible.

Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik said the campaign would begin in Simpang Renggam following the water supply issue caused by pollution of water sources in the district, which had remained unsolved for the past 10 years.

“The campaign will begin early next year and will involve students from pre-school to secondary school. It will later be expanded nationwide,” he told reporters after attending a closed-door briefing on the issue of water supply and waste management in Simpang Renggam, here yesterday.

Meanwhile, Maszlee, who is also Simpang Renggam Member of Parliament, said he hoped to see the clean water supply issue caused by pollution in Simpang Renggam to be solved by next year.
