Carina Lau grumbles that Tony does not linger during promotional events
HONG KONG: Actress Carina Lau has grumbled that her actor husband Tony Leung has no patience to linger on during promotional events.
His usual reply is: “I’ll only stay for 30 minutes.”
Since she’s helping to manage his career, this can be problematic.
Tony’s publicist Ka Ling is currently negotiating for him to appear in a co-production film. But he’s very choosy.
In fact, she had to turn down 10 scripts offered to Tony.
Besides the movie, Ka Ling is also negotiating for Tony to work on two commercials for the mainland China market.
As for getting more projects for Tony, Ka Ling said: “He is the one who is unwilling. I turned down 10 scripts for him. Some were unsuitable, and he didn’t want to make some. Being his manager actually isn’t easy. He would have words for you. When you ask him to attend an event, he would say that he would only stay for half a hour!”
As to how it is trying to manage Tony, Ka Ling added: “Terrible! I have to hurry and find someone to avoid blemishing my reputation! But normally he is still cordial, now he treats me like his slave!”
But she praises him for being selective about his projects.
Said Ka Ling: “Even money can’t lure him in, which is what I admire the most. He truly has high standards!”
