MITI has right officers, culture to support minister — Rafidah

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has the right officers and culture to support current Minister Datuk Darell Leiking, says Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz.

The former MITI minister who is now the chairman of long-haul lowcost carrier AirAsia X Bhd, said that Darell inherited a ministry that has implemented a high level working culture since she was in office.

“The culture of MITI that we set as a benchmark, as I understand, is still at a high level. So the minister would find it easier,” she told Bernama in an interview here yesterday.

Rafidah also regarded highly the ministry’s Secretary-General Datuk Isham Ishak.

“Isham is a good Sec-Gen. He understands the full picture, the full scale of responsibilities of MITI.

“He understands what it takes to have coordination with the private sector, consultative networking, and he understands working without delay,” she added.
