KOTA KINABALU: Wushu enthusiasts are hoping for the inclusion of the sport in the Sabah Games (Saga) in Keningau next year.

In expressing his hope, president of the new Sabah Wushu Association (2017) Dato Chin Kim Hiung believed that they would be able meet the criteria of getting at least six district contingents for Wushu to be included in the state premier multi-sport event.

He said this at the closing of the 1st Sabah Junior Wushu Championship, the new association organised tournament at the Kian Kok Middle School on Sunday.

“I expect wushu will be LOS ANGELES: Superstar LeBron James warned his young Los Angeles Lakers teammates that his patience was wearing thin after a third narrow loss less than two weeks into the new regular season.

“You probably don’t want to be around when my patience runs out. I’m serious,” James said after the Lakers lost 124-120 at Minnesota on Monday night, leaving them with five defeats from their opening seven games.

“We talk about patience but you can’t have reoccurrences of the same thing. If you are doing the same things over and over and over and expecting the same result then that’s insanity.

“So we have to get better. We can’t keep having the same mistakes over and over.” - AFP included to be one of the 21 sports events in Saga next year... we need at least six contingents to meet the criteria,” he said.

He hoped that the fact that the newly formed association was now registered under Sabah Sports Commission and was recognised as the sole representative to manage the sport in the state it would work in their favour to achieve the aim.

“Sabah Wushu Association (2017) has also been accepted as member of the Wushu Federation of Malaysia (WFM), and will take responsibility to select qualified athletes to represent Sabah to take part in official WFM tournaments,” he added.

And the start of the new administration of the association has been promising with Ericsson Bong Cheng Loong winning a bronze at the KPM Malaysia Junior Wushu Championship in Kuching, Sarawak in May.

Bong also took part in the just concluded state junior championship where he won three gold medals.

For the record, 60 primary and secondary schools as well as Universiti Malaysia Sabah took part in the state junior championship.

The participants are from Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Putatan, Papar, Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Keningau and Labuan.
