Police to scrutinise Justo’s claim – IGP

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The police will look into a claim by former PetroSaudi International Ltd executive Xavier Andre Justo that he was forced to openly declare that former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is a good man, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.

He said the police do not discount the possibility that the claim is linked to a statement taken from Justo in Bangkok three years ago.

“We will scrutinise the claim before making any confirmation. We will also investigate why the claim is being made,” he said to reporters after opening an anticorruption integrity seminar for the police here yesterday.

Swiss whistleblower Justo admitted yesterday that Malaysian authorities had met him while he was in a Bangkok jail.

On June 22, 2015, Justo was arrested at his home in Koh Samui, Thailand, after PetroSaudi officers filed a complaint that he tried to blackmail the firm for 2.5 million Swiss francs (about RM11 million) over documents allegedly stolen from the company. In December 2016, Justo was one of the thousands of foreign convicts who were pardoned by the King of Thailand, King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun.

On another matter, Fuzi said the police are making efforts to talk to the people who claim to be the owners of the jewellery seized during the investigation into the 1MDB case.

In June, the police said the total value of the 75 bags of items seized from six raided venues linked to the 1MDB case is between RM900 million and RM1.1 billion.
