Musa says he was cleared of cases 14 years ago

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman yesterday questioned the motive of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in accusing him of being involved in graft in connection with timber concessions after he was cleared of such claims 14 years ago.

He said the cases had been completed and the matter was explained by Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz who was then Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

“I will fight these cases to clear my name. I do not know why these cases which had been cleared about 10 to 14 years ago, are coming up again.

“Nazri, who was then minister in charge of parliament matters had cleared me of the claims. There is no case against me. I do not know if this is politically motivated,” he told reporters at the lobby of the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex after his case was mentioned at the Sessions Court here.

Meanwhile, MACC deputy chief commissioner (Operation) Datuk Seri Azam Baki when asked, refused to comment on the matter.

“I don’t want to comment. Let’s wait for the trial,” he said.

In October 2012, the Attorney-General’s Chambers, after taking into consideration MACC’s statements, decided that elements of corruption could not be proven in the graft claims involving Musa.

Mohamed Nazri also cleared the issue in his written reply to Tian Chua in the Dewan Rakyat. - Bernama
