Mohamaddin: Allegations about my son not true
KOTA KINABALU: Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi has denied allegations that his son was calling the shots in awarding tenders by his ministry.
“We have nothing to hide as the allegations on social media were made by irresponsible people,” Mohamaddin said yesterday.
“No such thing. No such thing. You don’t believe that one, lah,” he told the media over claims of irregularities in his ministry.
“No, I think (it is the work of) irresponsible people lah. We (should) put it that way lah,” the Silam MP added, when asked whether he was being targeted by certain quarters.
Mohamaddin reiterated that he welcomed the Malaysian AntiCorruption Commission’s (MACC) investigation should there be any launched within the ministry.
“Feel free anytime. We have nothing to hide actually,” he emphasized, without confirming whether an investigation had already been launched by the MACC.
Mohamaddin had earlier said that no Pakatan Harapan (PH) minister would be “stupid enough” to allow such a thing to happen.
On November 21, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he would leave it to the MACC to investigate allegations of the son of a minister’s involvement in awarding contracts without going through open tender.
