Excellence course for ministers, deputy ministers’ wives
KUALA LUMPUR: The Gemilang Sahsiah course for wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers is a platform for them to improve themselves so that they are not left behind locally and globally in today's era of development, said the Prime Minister's wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.
Dr Siti Hasmah who is also chairman of Kasih Malaysia, the charity and welfare organisation of the wives of Harapan Malaysia said what was unique about the course this time was that the participants comprised wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers who were previously opposition members.
“This is a success because we are gathered here, we used to be the opposition and had nothing, the wives of Ministers were not close as a team, now thankfully, the wives of party leaders of the new government are united and close.
“This course is a golden opportunity for us to develop ourselves as wives of Ministers or Deputy Ministers, we often hear that 'behind every successful man there is a woman', I changed that 70 years ago to 'there is not any woman behind a successful man, but there is a wife," she said, with the audience applauding in response.
Dr Siti Hasmah was speaking at the launch of the Excellence Course for Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers here yesterday.
"I know some of us have attended courses like this before, but take it as another opportunity to improve ourselves...it is also a revision course for me because there have been many changes,” Dr Siti Hasmah said.
“As wives, we also have to be aware of changes, not just about ourselves and our surroundings, but also about government policies,” she said.
The five-day course which began yesterday was organised by the National Institute of Public Administration (Intan) and Kasih Malaysia and attended by 44 participants. – Bernama
