Make Farley Cat Show an annual event – participants
SIBU: The first-ever ‘Farley Cat Show 2018’ received such an overwhelming response that many participants wanted the organiser to make it an annual event.
The ‘feline showcase’ concluded last Sunday with a presentation of more than 80 cats from different breeds. Based on an observation, it appeared that the majority of the participants owned Persian cats – some had Siamese cats, while very few brought along the rare Bengal breed.
The show, organised by Farley Supermarket, attracted a huge number of spectators.
One of them, Noormah Muhi from Sungai Assan near here, believed that the event not only displayed beautiful cats, but also served as a good opportunity for animal lovers to highlight one message – that cats and dogs need the compassion from humans.
For pet owner Monica Ela Kulong, it was an opportunity for the public to gain knowledge about the best ways for them to care for pet animals.
Another cat lover, Teresa Kulong, said she was happy to see that the event promoted love for the animals.
“It speaks against abuse of animals,” she added.
Local animal lover Muhammad Haikal Osman, on the other hand, commended Farley manager Eijing Lau for running a well-organised event.
Haikal also spoke against the practice of abandoning pets.
“Instead of throwing away unwanted pets, these people should post on social media stating their intention to put the animals up for adoption,” he said.
