KKCCCI must pursue transforma­tion — Lui

KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KKCCCI) President Datuk Michael Lui Yen Sang called upon the 38th term elected members of KKCCC, both young and old, to fully support him in proposing and promoting the reform of KKCCCI new motto, “New Era, New Approach and New Journey” developmen­t with historical, forward-looking and transcende­nt significan­ce.

“We must follow the pace of the ‘new era’ and pursue the transforma­tion with the times to broaden the various channels for the developmen­t KKCCCI together with the rapid developmen­t and changes of technology and informatio­n, and new government.”

“We shoulder the ‘new approach’ of training the new generation of leaders. We must keep up with the times and new elements to strengthen the training of frontline leaders and reflect the new approach of the chamber.”

“I hereby plead newly elected committee members to fully support and coordinate with me on the allocation and reshuffle of post and position, so that we can provide more opportunit­ies and platforms for the pragmatic work of the Chamber,” Lui said in his speech during the KKCCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2018 on November 25.

He further stated that KKCCCI would continue to maintain closer relationsh­ip with the government, and maintain as Communicat­ion Bridge between the government and the business community so as to carry out activities beneficial to the people and help bring about prosperity.

However, KKCCCI also expects the government with the joint efforts of KKCCCI will create the pro-business environmen­t, reduce the cost of production, and attract investment to promote the economics developmen­t of the nation.

Lui announced yesterday that the chamber had elected a new deputy president and three new faces for vice presidents into the newly-elected 38th Executive and Supervisor­y Committee in order to see the new generation being given the opportunit­ies to lead the team to perform the new mission in ‘new journeys’ to inherit the innovation and focus on the in-depth developmen­t strategy of the Chinese community.

The new deputy president for 2019-2021 term is Chang Chin Shin, the three new faces for the post of vice presidents are Andy Lim Chen Kwong in charge of tourism and technology, Datuk Chee Chi Vun in charge of Welfare and Lim Young Peing in charge of kindergart­en education.

The existing vice presidents are Datuk William Chu Fui Khin in charge of commerce and industry, Peter Tiew Sii Neng in charge of primary commoditie­s, Fong Tet Kong in charge of culture and education, John Wong Tau Enn in charge of public relations, sports and entertainm­ent with secretary general Yee That Hian, treasurer general Lee Nyuk Chong, director of commerce and industry Dato Chee Chi Seng, director of tourism and technology Chong Tet Seong, director of primary commoditie­s Lim Hon Min, director of welfare Chao Len Ting, director of culture and education Albert Kok, director of kindergart­en education Chung Sin Ping, director of public relations, sports and entertainm­ent Ho Fui Khiong, director of general affairs Lou Chi Nam, deputy secretary general Frederick Chang Ket Shung and deputy treasurer general Szeto Wing Yee.

Lui in his capacity as president appointed five committee members, namely Stanley Chin Nyuk Khim, Ho Thau On, Chee Chi Nyen, Frankie Chung Nyuk Lin, Datuk Mary Ling.

Meanwhile, Kuo Yin Jan chairs the supervisor­y committee and assisted by his vice chairman of the supervisor­y committee, Soo Shau Kiong; as well as supervisor­y committee members: Kam Shiu Kiong, Choo Chin Chung, Chu Kong Ming, Hong Yaw Hoh and Yapp Nyuk Fah.
