KDM Lahad Datu scouting for players Dec 1-2

-

KOTA KINABALU: Team KDM Lahad Datu will continue their search for players in in the district today and tomorrow (December 1-2).

However, coach, Faisal Yee, stressed that only those who had joined open trials held earlier in November (12-14) would be eligible for selection.

“We are in the process of finalising the selection and so those who did not attend the earlier session will not be eligible,” he said when contacted on Friday.

Meanwhile, Faisal, who is also a former coach of the Sabah President's Cup squad, welcomed the formation of the Sabah Football Association (SAFA) Talent Scouting Team, led by former Sabah player Andrew Laban.

Faisal, who is also part of the newly-formed scouting team, said that talents would be scouted all over Sabah and that such extensive search for new players would benefit the Sabah FA and the state teams.

“The existence of this team enables us to discuss and exchange opinions for the betterment of football development in the state,” he said.

During the team's first meeting on November 24, Faisal called for a more systematic approach in selecting players (from the under-18, under-21 and open tournaments) for the Youth Cup (under-19), President's Cup (under21) and Premier League squads.

He also suggested that members of the President's Cup and Youth Cup squads need not join the tournaments so that more opportunities can be given to new players.
