SIDMA College offers sports management course

-

KOTA KINABALU: The SIDMA College here is offering Sports Management Diploma course to SPM leavers.

As the only higher learning centre in Sabah and Borneo to offer such courses, the college hoped that the course that would start in March 2019 will contribute towards sports development in the country.

Chairman of SIDMA College Sabah, Dr. Morni Kambrie, said the course was among its iniative to support the call of the government of Sabah to produce athletes that not only excel in sport but also possess academic qualifications.

Morni said that the timing was right to have the course as children nowadays are more interested in their gadgets that sports activities are neglected while some parents are of the thinking that sports do not guarantee a bright future for their children.

“That is why it is high time we have Sports Management course,” said Morni during the Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony between SIDMA College and Fortis Invictus Sdn Bhd yesterday.

The programme will be conducted by SIDMA Sports Academy under the management of SIDMA College in collaboration with Fortis Invictus.

Also present were Azizah Khalid Merican and Azlina Ngatimin from SIDMA management; Fortis Invictus head of operations Azhar Ismail; Gaya Teacher Institute representative Dr Sukiman Sukardi and member of the Board of Directors of Sabah Sports Board Aliudin Jumaat.
