Nabawan to have own fire station by 2021

-

KENINGAU: A new fire and rescue station will be built in Nabawan, near here and it is expected to begin operations in 2021, said Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Director Kamarulzaman Malik Abdullah.

The government had approved the project and work would begin soon, he told reporters after a working visit to the Keningau Fire and Rescue here yesterday.

He said the Nabawan fire and rescue station would be built to cater to the needs of the local community and to address the issue on response time.

“The most important issue is that Keningau has to cover a very wide area, covering 17,000 square kilometres, which is larger than the state of Pahang,” he said, adding that there were several other areas identified as strategic locations for the building of fire and rescue stations, such as Kemabong and Pensiangan, both located in the remote area of Sabah.
