Wife of TYT vis­its foster fam­ily of San­dakan stu­dent who died af­ter ac­ci­dent

SAN­DAKAN: The wife of Head of State, Toh Puan Datin Seri Pan­glima Nor­l­i­dah R.M. Jasni, vis­ited the foster fam­ily of a fa­tal ac­ci­dent vic­tim in Sri Ta­man, Mile, here yes­ter­day.

She was ac­com­pa­nied by Min­is­ter of Health and Peo­ple’s Well­be­ing cum San­dakan MP Datuk Stephen Wong Tien Fatt.

Toh Puan ex­pressed her con­do­lences and made a do­na­tion to the vic­tim’s fam­ily.

The vic­tim was a 17-year-old stu­dent named Sofi­anah Azhar, who was hit by a car when she was sell­ing tra­di­tional cakes by the road­side, in front of Sri Ta­man Mosque here last Tues­day.

Sofi­anah passed away at Hospi­tal Duchess of Kent around 4.40am on Wed­nes­day, and missed her last SPM pa­per, Chem­istry, on the same day.

Sofi­anah’s foster fa­ther, Si­dani Ab­dul­lah, 49, who had raised her, said the de­ceased had wanted to pur­sue her stud­ies af­ter SPM to be­come a nurse.

He said Sofi­anah was a well­be­haved stu­dent at school, and was hard­work­ing in help­ing out at the stall sell­ing “kuih” at by the road­side.

“We are all very sad af­ter she passed away. She left be­hind her cat which she loved a lot. She named the cat ‘orang kaya’ and now ‘orang kaya’ will never be the same with­out Sofi­anah around,” he said.

Sofi­anah had been liv­ing with her foster fam­ily since birth as her par­ents are liv­ing on an is­land here.
