EduQuest Ed­u­ca­tion Fair in KK to­day

SAN­DAKAN: Chi­nese Medicine course is be­com­ing in­creas­ingly pop­u­lar among grad­u­ates who are pur­su­ing their stud­ies at higher learn­ing in­sti­tu­tions.

South­ern Univer­sity Col­lege in Sku­dai Jo­hor is one of the in­sti­tu­tions of­fer­ing Foun­da­tion and De­gree in Chi­nese Medicine in Malaysia.

Ac­cord­ing to South­ern Univer­sity Col­lege Stu­dent Re­cruit­ment and Ad­min­is­tra­tion Of­fice Ex­ec­u­tive, Casper Go Wei Kiat, there is an in­creas­ing de­mand for the course among grad­u­ates.

He opined that be­cause more peo­ple of dif­fer­ent races were start­ing to seek tra­di­tional Chi­nese med­i­cal treat­ment as an al­ter­na­tive to the med­i­cal treat­ment avail­able in the coun­try.

He said that for one-year Foun­da­tion in Chi­nese Medicine, Si­jil Pe­la­jaran Malaysia (SPM) grad­u­ates could come from Sci­ence stream as well as Arts stream, pro­vided that they achieved min­i­mum five Cs in­clud­ing Sci­ence and Math­e­mat­ics.

Stu­dents could opt to con­tinue their stud­ies in a four-yearpro­gramme of De­gree in Chi­nese Medicine in the same in­sti­tute, in which they will also be ex­posed to a prac­ti­cal pro­gramme at the univer­sity col­lab­o­rat­ing in­sti­tu­tion, the Tian Jing Chi­nese Medicine Univer­sity in China to earn clin­i­cal hours, Casper added when met at the EduQuest Ed­u­ca­tion Fair held at Liv­ingston Ho­tel, Mile 4 here, yes­ter­day.

The EduQuest Ed­u­ca­tion Fair, par­tic­i­pated by over 30 lo­cal and over­seas par­tic­i­pat­ing col­leges and uni­ver­si­ties, started here yes­ter­day and con­tin­ues to­day (Dec 9) at the Pa­cific Sutera Ho­tel in Kota Kinabalu and in La­had Datu on Dec 10 at the May Inn Ho­tel and then in Tawau at the Prom­e­nade Ho­tel on Dec 11.

AAd­mis­sion to the fair in Kota Kinabalu and La­had Datu will be held from 1pm to 5pm, and Tawau from 2pm to 6pm. Ad­mis­sion is free.

The par­tic­i­pat­ing lo­cal and over­seas in­sti­tu­tions of higher learn­ing are of­fer­ing a wide range of cour­ses at the fair. The main ob­jec­tive of the road­show event is to pro­vide an op­por­tu­nity for par­ents and stu­dents to speak di­rectly to the rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the uni­ver­si­ties.

The road­show was specif­i­cally tai­lored for SPM/UEC/STPM/ A-level stu­dents and Diploma hold­ers.

Stu­dents are ad­vised to bring along their fore­cast/ac­tual re­sult slips and rel­e­vant doc­u­ments for the on-the-spot as­sess­ment, schol­ar­ship ap­pli­ca­tion and regis­tra­tion.

Schol­ar­ship, PTPTN loan and other fi­nan­cial scheme in­for­ma­tion are also avail­able on that day. Ap­pli­ca­tion fees will be waived for some par­tic­i­pat­ing uni­ver­si­ties for stu­dents who en­rol dur­ing the event.
