Spreading autism awareness via movie

-

KOTA KINABALU: Gamuda Land hosted a special screening of “Guang”, a local movie that aims to spread awareness on autism, for its GL Friends at a cinema here yesterday.

Nearly 200 of GL Friends as well as Gamuda Land’s business associates and media representatives attended the event.

“The aim of this movie screening is to create a better awareness that would lead to a better understanding and acceptance of autism.

“We believe that change starts from home and when we walk the talk, we inspire others to follow suit,” Gamuda Land Relationship Management Senior Manager Cammy Lee told reporters when met at the event.

In 2013, Yayasan Gamuda started the Differently-Abled project to provide gainful and sustainable employment to young adults with autism within Gamuda Group.

Last year, the project was scaled up to Enabling Academy, that now trains differently-abled individuals on the autism spectrum and works closely with various other organisations to ensure employment sustainability for these individuals.

Guang tells the story of an autistic young man who is on a journey to unveil the hidden talents and struggles of an autistic adult.

It is understood, that Gamuda Land was one of the sponsors for the movie.

GL Friends is a loyalty programme exclusively for purchasers of Gamuda Land properties.

It provides the customers of Gamuda Land with an array of exclusive rewards, benefits and privileges.
