Long delayed SMK Kipouvo project to start soon – Darell
PENAMPANG: Construction of the long delayed SMK Kipouvo is expected to commence next year, said Pritchard Gumbaris, the political secretary to Penampang member of parliament, Datuk Darell Leiking.
Pritchard, who was met here recently, disclosed that he was tasked to expedite the construction of the school which was announced by previous government in 2012 before 13th general election.
According to him, Darell was disappointed with the long delay of the project and decided to take a proactive move to resolve the issue.
“Darell, Jenifer Lasimbang and former Moyog assemblyman, Terrence Siambun when they were in the opposition, had frequently reminded the previous government of its promise to build the school,” said Pritchard.
He added that he has chaired two meetings on the issue and assisted to redirect and expedite the approval of the development plan (DP).
The meetings were attended by all respective departments and agencies, and recently the DP has complied with all the necessary requirements and discussed in recent central board meeting.
When asked about the new roundabout at Hungab, Pritchard said that Darell is aware of the problem caused by it and has spoken to the state Public Works Department (PWD) to find a solution. The roundabout is a PWD Penampang project and approved in early 2017.
“Numerous complaints were received from road users, especially on the traffic jams at Jalan Guunsing caused by the roundabout. Datuk Darell is in close contact with PWD on this and was informed that an improvement will be made at the road at Guunsing to allow more vehicles to be able to make a left turn towards main road,” said Pritchard.
