Selangor DAP convention passes seven resolution­s

PETALING JAYA: The 2018 Selangor DAP Convention yesterday approved seven resolution­s, including urging the government to continue investigat­ing the 1Malaysia Developmen­t Berhad (1MDB) scandal.

The party also urged the Selangor government to reimplemen­t the Local Authoritie­s (PBT) elections to widen democracy as well as provide local candidates access to key posts in Local Assemblies.

The resolution also urged the Federal Government to remain committed to abolishing the Sedition Act and other acts that suppress the people.

The resolution was unanimousl­y approved by the delegates present after being announced by the speaker, Leong Yu Man who is also Triang assemblywo­man.

A total of 756 delegates out of 1,092 members were eligible to attend the convention yesterday.

DAP Selangor also stated its full support for Budget 2019 and that it would help the people of Selangor to fully understand its contents by holding briefings, as well as question and answer and publicity sessions.

It also called on the Federal Government to implement Pakatan Harapan’s Manifesto with regard to the addition of 10,000 public buses nationwide within the first term of administra­tion as a step towards improving the public transport system in the country. The party also called for the continuati­on of reforms in the police force, such as the establishm­ent of the Independen­t Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) and other policy changes to restore the people’s confidence in the police.

Apart from that, it also called for the recognitio­n of the Unified Examinatio­n Certificat­e (UEC) to be equivalent to existing general qualificat­ions for admission to public institutio­ns of higher learning (IPTA).
