CIDB publishes list of certified constructi­on materials

The Constructi­on Industry Developmen­t Board (CIDB) has published a list of certified local constructi­on materials and products for 2017.

CIDB in a statement said the 359-page publicatio­n contains a list of manufactur­ers who have obtained the certificat­e of standard compliance (PPS) from CIDB since 2016.

A total of 120 products in 13 categories are listed in the Fourth Schedule under Act 520.

The list can be downloaded from CIDB’s official website http://www.cidb.gov.my/images/ content/pdf/material/DaftarBB-2018.pdf, and the public may check the list of CIDB-certified materials and manufactur­ers at www.ccpm.cidb.gov.my .

Under the Constructi­on Industry Developmen­t Board Malaysia Act 1994 (Act 520), anyone dealing in building materials whose quality has not been certified by CIDB can, if convicted, be fined not less than RM10,000 and up to a maximum of RM500, 000.

In another developmen­t, Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM), the board’s competency assessment and training centre, obtained six awards at the WorldSkill­s Asia (WSA) 2018 held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from Nov 26 to 30.

Mohamad Amirol Amin Mohamad Zamri of ABM’s southern region won a gold medal after defeating 10 participan­ts from Asian countries including Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, India, Belarus and the United Arab Emirates.

Ahmad Naim Mohamad Rosli of ABM Sarawak took home a silver medal in drawing and decoration, while four other ABM participan­ts garnered the Medallion for Excellence for winning in the categories of cooling and air-conditioni­ng, welding, drawing and decoration, and electrical wiring.

The Malaysian contingent secured a total of 11 awards including three gold and three silver medals, as well as the Medallion for Excellence, won by five participan­ts from selected Malaysian skills training institutes. — Bernama
