SEMPORNA: Sabah Marine Police Force (MPF) has outlined three main factors in efforts to fight cross-border crimes.

Sabah Region 4 MPF Commander, ACP Mohamad Pajeri Ali said the three main factors are operations, movement and increasing the case of interest.

Mohamad Pajeri said operations will be launched in inter, intra and integrated with other agencies such as Fisheries Department, Immigration Department and others.

“Seventy per cent of our patrol boats will be involved in operations and MPF will also strive to increase the case of interest as well as play a full role in the aspect of Maritime Security and Maritime Laws Enforcement,” he said.

Mohamad Pajeri said this in his speech during the MPF first Monthly Assembly in 2019 at Semporna MPF Base, Friday.

According to Mohamad Pajeri, in 2019, MPF will also apply offensive movement instead of defensive that was applied before this in the fight against crime.

He said MPF will mobilize its assets and manpower as well as assist the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) in international issues such as Kidnapping For Ransom (KFR).

In line with this plan, he said, the leadership has also planned various support in terms of logistics to assist MPF including in the intelligence aspect.

“MPF will continue taking the challenge of leadership to serve with the motto of ‘No Day Without Success’ that also successfully contributed to MPF’s achievement in 2018.

“We will also adapt this concept in 2019 and generate more success in the fight against cross-border crimes including smuggling and others,” he said.

When interviewed, Mohamad Pajeri also disclosed that MPF has recorded 1,439 cases with seizures worth RM18,729,439.81.

He said that the cases were recorded under the Customs Act 1967, Fisheries Act 1985, Immigration Act 1959/63, Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and several others under the Malaysia and Maritime laws.

Mohamad Pajeri also said the success was made possible with the commitment from their members as well as support from other parties including the public.

He also thanked the commitment provides by the media practitioners in assisting MPF to highlight their achievement and success.
