Institut Sinaran students excel again in Cambridge Advanced Subsidiary exams

KOTA KINABALU: Institut Sinaran students have achieved another set of outstandin­g A Level results, further improving on the successes of previous years.

The November 2018 Cambridge Internatio­nal A-Level Examinatio­ns results which were released on January 10, marked yet another year of excellent academic and personal achievemen­ts for students at the institute, with an overall record passing rate of 95.6 percent for Advanced Subsidiary (AS level). The results showed that out of 68 students, 65 passed for the AS Level, where nine students scored straight four ‘A’ Grades, 15 students scored three “A” Grades and a record of 55.9 percent of the students scored at least an ‘A’ grade for one subject.

As for the A2 Level Examinatio­ns, 36 students passed out of 38 students with an overall passing rate of 94.7 percent, two students scored 4A’s, two students scored A* or AS in all three subjects, eight students scored two A’s or ‘A’s and 39.5 percent of the students scored at least an ‘A’ grade for one subject.

Students who scored straight four ‘A’s’ for the AS Level are Alyssa Chan Yue Yue, Arthur Chan Hei, Jamir Izan Khan, Leann Tan Ming Guet, Nathaniel Ezra Lee Zheng, Ngu Ley Chun, Rafia Hossain, Rin Annabelle Mopilin and Wong Ming Han.

The students who scored three ‘A’s’ are Chow Yan Teng, Daryle Tan Yan Shen, Elvin Liew Yik Seng, Fariha Hossain, Ian Ha Jin Quan, Joshua Wong Zinloong, Poon Yeong Shian, Tang Lee Eng Esther, Elaine Chu Yee Lim, Leong Ten Hong, Paul Santa Maria, Sak Khong Nam, Samantha Pau Chya Yi, Yong Zi Xuan and Zeti Aizanti Binti Pandikar @ Pendikar Amin.

For A2 level, students who scored 4A’s are Shau Yunn Yi (A*A*A*A) and Nichelle Faye Cheong Nyuk Phin (A*A*A*A). Students who scored 3A’s are Goh Ting Yu (A*A*A*) and Clarice Celina Lee Jia Ling (A*A*A). Meanwhile, students who scored 2 A’s are Hen Yun Liang, Jonathan Wong, Lau Jia Xin, Mark Lee Kok Han, Wong Yi Jun, Elaine Soon Yi Xin, Beth Eva Mojilip and Hen Yun Liang.

The CEO of Institut Sinaran, Madam Marie Yong said, “We are incredibly proud of our students and their A-Level results. These results are testament to our outstandin­g teaching throughout the school and to our commitment to building upon our sustained exemplary GCE results. We have proved that our ‘A-Level ‘challenges students to achieve their potential and beyond, and makes their visions, a reality.”

“I want to thank our inspiratio­nal lecturers for their dedication, and parents for all their support and encouragem­ent. It is the close working between teachers, parents and students that has resulted in such a positive outcome,” added Marie.

These results have proven that although the Cambridge requiremen­ts and passing marks are stringent, it also concludes that the institute’s high passing rate for students is due to the quality of education offered at Institut Sinaran as well as the students’ dedication and commitment.

This A- level achievemen­t reinforces Institut Sinaran’s image as a leading Pre-university centre in East Malaysia and the largest centre for Cambridge GCE ALevel in Sabah.

The 18-month Cambridge ‘A’ Level Programme in Institut Sinaran aims to prepare students with a strong academic foundation to further their higher education.

However, the institute also seeks to prepare students well for their future endeavours through a holistic approach via a wide range of extra-curricular and leadership training activities which include digital, intensive English courses and mobility programmes with foreign and local universiti­es such as Shenzhen Polytechni­c (SZPT), the People’s Republic of China.

Institut Sinaran is a Sabah-based Higher Institutio­n of Education with a 5-star rating from MyQuest, a Malaysian Quality Evaluation System for private colleges under the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education.

Furthermor­e, the institute is offering two additional programmes, the ACCA Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) programme under ACCA Global and Diploma in Accounting, which is open for its 2019 intake.

Financial aid and scholarshi­ps are available for Institut Sinaran students, and they are allowed direct entry into various local and internatio­nal universiti­es such as the United Kingdom and Australian universiti­es with credit transfers where applicable, after they have completed the institute’s home-grown diploma programmes.
