Man with syabu, knuckle duster among 17 ar­rested

KOTA KINABALU: A man who had 24 pack­ets of syabu and a knuckle duster was among 17 peo­ple who were rounded up in an anti-crime op­er­a­tion over the week­end.

City po­lice chief ACP Habibi Ma­jinji said the other sus­pects were ar­rested for var­i­ous other of­fences, in­clud­ing not hav­ing valid iden­ti­fi­ca­tion doc­u­ments.

The sus­pects, aged be­tween four and 45 years old, were among the 72 screened dur­ing the in­te­grated op­er­a­tion by the po­lice, Na­tional Regis­tra­tion Depart­ment, Im­mi­gra­tion Depart­ment, Civil De­fence Corp, Rela and City Hall, he said.

The op­er­a­tion from 4.30 pm on Satur­day to 2.30 am on Sun­day was con­ducted in the city area, Sem­bu­lan, Likas, Tan­jung Aru, Inanam and Telipok.

Other than the man in pos­ses­sion of the drug and knuckle duster, those ar­rested com­prised 13 il­le­gal im­mi­grants and three who tested pos­i­tive for drug abuse, Habibi dis­closed.
