KOTA KINABALU: When things are just starting to fall into place, the Sabah Football Association (Safa) could be in for a another testing situation.

Safa, which was previously hit by financial problem as well as a leadership crisis, now find themselves in trouble with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

The FAM through its secretary-general Stuart Michael Ramalingam issued a letter informing that they had received a complaint regarding Safa’s Extra-Ordinary Congress conducted on December 12.

The complaint was on Safa conducting the congress without following the rules and regulations under its constitution.

However, the letter which has gone viral did not mention which rule or regulations under the constitution they failed to comply with.

“Safa are required to provide a detailed explanation regarding the complaint and (send) a complete report on the process of the congress,” Stuart was quoted in the letter.

Meanwhile, Safa are taking the matter seriously and will address the issue very soon.

For the record, the congress was held to fill in several of the top positions in the association, including the president post following the resignation of Alijus Sipil.

Representatives from 23 out of the 26 Safa district affiliates attended the congress.
